Nigerian Fish Roll Recipe

Nigerian Fish Roll
Nigerian Fish Roll is a deep fried crunchy snack, made with mashed fish filling. It is similar to fish pie but the preparation and taste are different.

Below is a well detailed and easy to follow recipe on how to make Nigerian Fish Roll.

Ingredients For Nigerian Fish Roll Dough:
• 350 grams flour
• 100 grams margarine
• 1 teaspoonful baking powder
• 1 big raw egg
• 1/2  teaspoonful salt
• Water

Ingredients For Nigerian Fish Roll Filling:
 • Fresh mackerel fish
 • Vegetable oil for frying

How To Make Nigerian Fish Roll:
• Season the fresh fish with a little salt and fry lightly in hot oil, then remove the bones and mash well or pound.

• In a bowl, add the flour, salt, baking powder and margarine then mix well. Add the egg to it and mix thoroughly.

• Now, add the water bit by bit and knead the dough until you get a smooth but firm dough then place the dough on a flat board/table and cut out a bit.

• Using a rolling pin, roll out the small dough until it's flat and then cut to form a rectangular shape.

• Now add the mashed fish and fold or roll the dough. Keep rolling it until you get the length you desire.

• Next, heat the oil until it's very hot ( but not smoking hot) then fry the Fish Rolls on low heat until it's crusty and light brown.

• That's it, your Nigerian Fish Roll is ready. Serve with zobo drink, soya milk or any drink of your choice. Enjoy!
